The third day we were in Munich, we took the bus and the train into town and went on an open-air bus tour of the city. It was one hour long, hop-off, hop-on, and a good way for us to see the main sights in Munich. We listened to an English tour spiel with headphones, but I can't remember what these various buildings actually are.
We found the bell towers of church buildings especially interesting. The styles are different for different regions. Most roofs in Bavaria are red tiles, but they are black slate in the north.
There were a lot of domes. I wish we could have seen the inside of some of these places.
This looks like another one of the gates, but is not. It is a memorial of some kind.
The building fronts were also very interesting, and different in different areas. The variety of pastel colors were really nice.
This one has the pyramid with the eye symbol in the middle of the sunburst at the top, the same as on a dollar bill.
Another clock tower, this one also has a (rectangular) sun-dial on the side of the building. We saw a lot of variety of sun dials, some which showed the day and month as well as the hour.
This was a cool reminder that one time this was a country where knights roaming the countryside.
