The Miro

Here we are in the dining area of the Miro, a salon yacht built in the 20's and beautifully maintained. It is said to be one of only two of its kind still sailing. We had breakfasts together every day with many kinds of breads, cheeses and cured meats, plus fruits, yogurt, paté, granola and jams. For the Americans on board we had a small jar of peanut butter, which our European companions found quite... unappetising but fascinating. They also said they never mixed meat and cheese in the same sandwich. We made our packed lunches from this table.

You can see the galley and bar behind the table, and the wheel-house door to the upper right. The steps down to our cabins are behind that counter and to the left of the wheel-house door-- it looks like a white area. There were four cabins down there, each with a nice little bathroom. It was tight but comfy.

In the picture below you can see the sky-light above the table and the double doors going to the back deck where the bikes are kept. To the left of that are the steps going down to the captain's cabin. As you can see from all the little decorations, this ship never sees rough water.
Here are a couple shots of the boat from a distance. There is a picnic table on the front deck, a nice place to sit and watch, unless it is raining... It did rain quite a lot.

And here we have Tessa, the wonderful, friendly, smart ship's dog. By the second day, she greeted everyone on the ship as they returned as if she'd known them for years! She knew which stops she could get off and which she could go for a swim, and was very well behaved.
