At Home in Wain (pronounced 'vine')

Andrea and Angela are our coworkers who are also on furlough. They are staying in the upstairs apartment of Andreas' parent's home. We stayed there to, in the parent's room. It was lovely! They took such good care of us! Here is a picnic dinner we had with the family at the family apple orchard not far from the house. Yes, I am not really shown here since I cropped the picture to make myself (chewing) disappear, just as you would have done.

The village of Wain has a castle in the middle of it. It is owned by a baron whose family got it from some monks at some distant point in history. The baron owned all the land around his castle (his barony). Much of the land in the town has been sold to businesses and private citizen's but the baron still owns a lot of farm land and the local golf course.
The picture below is a view at sundown from the golf course. You can see that lovely mix of field and forest that is so typical in Germany.
Andreas' parents took us to the golf course to show is the view and the land owned by the baron. This much we understood, but there might have been more... They are a wonderful couple!
Here we have the family dinner after church on Sunday, celebrating the birthday's of Andreas' sister's husband, and Angela. On the table you can see the black forest torte, an amazing and addictive creation made by Andreas' mom for the occasion. There is also another cake, also delicious, filled with fresh fruit, on the table.
While in Wain, we asked Andreas to take some pictures for our new prayer card, so here we are as we looked on that occasion.
