'Nother Update

Well, we saw the nose guy yesterday, and really felt good about him. He asked all the right questions and came to the same conclusions we had come to. He said pretty much all situations like this are 'iatrogenic' which means, caused by doctors. In this case, a root canal, which he says are almost always infected, and then pieces of tooth and bone from that root canal set free by another doctor into the sinus area. Not good, and, 'of course there is something draining into your mouth, there has to be, since there is no other way for the stuff to get out.' The other doctor was a little skeptical when dad said it was still draining.

So, Dad was put on the next level up antibiotic, Levofloxicin for a week, plus a nose spray, and given a list of stuff to have done (chest exray, ecg, blood work) before surgery, which may not be until next Monday... sigh. This guy wants the tissues to be as 'quiet' as possible before going in to look for the flotsam. Looks like a 48 hour stay, but we asked if we could just come back to have the packing removed, since the stay in the hospital was the worst part. He may agree to that. Maybe we can go back to CDO before a week has past, since the Dr. is also leaving the country on the 29th.

My friend Elena said that she was going to suprise us, but decided she better not, especially since we didn't yet know the date of the surgery. She plans to fly up here to stay with us and help! She asked her husband about this and he is all for it, saying it is a way they can show their thanks for all we have done for them. Isn't that kind? I know she will be a big help, especially while we are in the hospital!

Oh, I'm glad to read about how Ed's being taken care of. These doctors sound qualified and seem to be giving it the right kind of thought. And how nice if Elana can come up! Thanks for keep us all posted!
