Further update

Friday Dad saw the internist on Friday, who declared him in good health; good blood pressure and good blood panels, no weirdness on the ECG, but... he wanted Dad to have an echo-stress test before he could be cleared! Ack! We scrambled to get an appointment for yesterday (Sat.) and the place that could give him the test soonest was in Binundo, Chinatown. So we went over there yesterday, a long drive, and he had that test. They said they could get the results to the doctor by Monday noon.

Monday at 10:30 Dad is supposed to report to the hospital for a pre-surgery CT scan. This is to see what everything looks like after the antibiotics have calmed everything down, and then he is to report to the oral surgeon's office. He is to be admitted Monday afternoon or evening, but we don't know which.

We have been in a bit of a panic because our request for an advance to the home office was not processed until just last Friday, even though they got the request the Friday before. This means we can't get money out of the bank until Monday, and Monday is taken up with all I mentioned above. But when I talked to Elena, she said we could pay the hospital and doctors with a credit card. If that is the case, we are in clear because then we can just pay off the card online, now that the money is there. We will make sure they take plastic when we go tomorrow. The estimated cost we will pay the hospital, including professional fees, is P150,000.00 , plus what we already spent should be about $4-5,000.00.

On Friday afternoon, after Dad saw the internist, we taxi-train-taxied out to Quezon City so I could see the dentist recommended by our friend Gigi. He cleaned my teeth, fixed a broken filling (done in Manila 3 years ago) and said everything looked very good! I was expecting to need more, so that was a relief! Dr. Fritcher sure did a good job on all he did so long ago, I don't think it is supposed to last this long! We had supper in the new Trimona Mall, trudged around a bit, took the train to the SM Mall near the condo, did our grocery shopping and walked home with the laod. Whew, what a long day!

Elena said planes have been cancelled a couple times in CDO due to bad weather, so we will see if she makes it up here. The storm that was here three days ago must be down there now. The day of the storm here it was great! We didn't need to go out and it rained all day. We opened all the windows and got fresh air and the sound of rain. Very nice!
