You are Prayed for by the Poor

This week we got a letter from Gaga Nanolan. She was thanking us from the bottom of her heart for our help in getting her through her midwifery course. She is the youngest of her family and the only believer. Her mother is 69 and has dementia. She has managed to get through the classwork with some help from us, but the practicum at the hospital is difficult to finish. She moved her mother up to her aunt's house in the mountains above Malaybalay so she can visit her and help as she can, but she has to pay the hospital, the teacher and a boarding house while she does her practicum. She works in the hospital for free, hoping to finally get in 20 births, 15 cord dressings, etc. so she can actually graduate. She is a dear girl and it is a joy and a privilage to be able to help someone like her!

But she said something in her letter that was said again by Micheal at church, and that we have heard again and again from the mountain pastors that we help, "There is no way we can pay or return anything to you for all your help to us, so we are always praying for you and for your family." When I think of this it moves me to tears. I feel so blessed an so humbled that these people who have so little are giving us so much. They pray for us and for you out of their gratitude to God for our help. What a wonderful way to pay a debt that can never be paid on earth.
