What else are we doing?

We have been listeners as one of our teams (medical) has been working on a partnership with USAID and a missions facilitating organization in the US. It is a child survival project and will put well chosen medically trained people in M communities for four years. This partnership also includes a Filipino organization called Life and Health for Asia run by a doctor and dentist couple here in CDO. They are very good friends of ours. As we have been listening, we have become increasingly concerned that this joint project is getting off on the wrong foot, with the US based organization, who has no experience working in an M community, micro-managing every detail, and in some cases, being the bull in the cultural china shop.
Those who are to implement the program, have all the experience and responsibility but no authority. They are also being required to expend resources, money, time and effort, and are not being given any money to do it with. The project is still in the 'courtship' stage, and it looks like it will not be a good marriage as it stands. We all want the project to happen becuase it looks like it has great potential for reaching many unreached with the good news, but the conditions need to change. Please pray for us as we try to help all the involved parties to come to a working agreement that will reflect mutual trust, a good use of resources and skills and an optimal management situation. We will be meeing with all parties Sunday and Monday.
