This was taken today. He had the surgery to install the 'fixator' yesterday afternoon. It was nice to see him smiling for the camera, and he really did love having his wife come visit. She is in a sort of shock being in this big city. She is used to living in the jungle of the mountains above Gingoog where the only non-human noise is birds and other wild-life.
I think tomorrow we will move them to Provencial Hospital where they will get good care but will be less expensive. Please continue to pray that he will heal quickly with no infection of the bones or tissue.

Glad to hear that the right things are happening for him. That would be so scary for a young family. We're praying for them. So, is he getting whirpool treatments to keep infection away?
Nope. The wound is still open and some insisions have been made on the back of the leg to release pressure. It is dressed everyday and wrapped up tight in an ace bandage. I don't think they even have whirlpools here.
When you end up taking care of him at home, you could make one. Get a big clean bucket, one that will allow him to immerse his lower leg. The BEST thing would be to somehow make a water outlet so you can drain some as you go, and then you could use a hose with high water pressure to create motion, rather than an air jet. The water should be quite warm. Fill the bucket, have him sit somewhere high so he can dangle his leg in without cutting of circulation on the edge of the tub. If you cannot create an airjet, some time just doing shower spray to his tolerance on the wound after 10-15 minutes of soaking would be good. If the wound begins to look greenish or smell, you can add about 1/4 C of bleach to the water. It would be good to do this about every other day, probably. Also, the dressing changes are a major agent in debridement. We often put bandages that would dry on the wound, so that when we pulled them off, they would remove the dead skin as well. But painful, and shouldn't be overdone.
