Our Trip to Surigao

This is the family of Pastor Jerry and Olayna Macapilit, the family we went to visit in Surigao. We had been trying to schedule a visit for a long time. Their house is two rooms, the living room/kitchen to the left, and the sleeping room behind them. When we saw that they had a table but nothing to sit on, we got them some chairs.

This is Pastor Jerry's church, built by the families who attend who are fishermen. We helped buy the thatch for the roof, the people provided the rest.

These are the people who were there on Sunday morning. Lots of kids! But there were 5 men who are very much involved.

Here are the kids doing their Bible verse and singing a song. the little boy on the left had his face covered the whole time! They were all so cute!

Dad and I both taught on Saturday afternoon and Dad preached on Sunday morning.We stayed at the Gateway Hotel in Surigao City and drove about 15-20 minutes on nice, cement roads to get to where Pastor Jerry lives. It is about a six hour drive from Cagayan de Oro. We enjoyed seeing Surigao! Because there are so many storms that come through that area, there are no billboards blocking the amazing views along the coast and all around the town. It was really a beautiful place. We plan to go back the first week in May. Lord willing, we will show the Jesus film and my friend Dr. Elena's medical mission group will do a free medical and dental clinic.
