It's Been Good!

Today is our 36th anniversary! Some friends from church (the pastor and 5 single girls, including Caryl's sister, Siony) were planning to come at midnight and sing to us last night, but Caryl told them to make it early today (like 4 am), but then they changed it to 10 pm last night. We weren't supposed to know they were coming, but Caryl knows that that sort of surprise is not a blessing to us...At all. What if we were already in bed, or if we were not prepared to invite them in for a snack? Ack! So her sister kept Caryl posted, and Caryl kept us posted. When we knew that they were coming that night, we went to the mall and bought a cake so as to be prepared. Actually, I am bringing a longish flower arrangement to put in the Bend house, and decided that a cake-box of the sort used for long jelly rolls, was just what we needed for carrying the silk flowers. When I tried to buy just the box from the bakery, it was no-go. So, we went and bought a cake and killed two birds with one stone! And when the group arrived to serenade us, I could honestly invite them to come help us eat the cake I had had to buy to accommodate my flowers, and not let on that we knew they were coming! We had a nice visit with them, and they asked us to tell them our love story, and that was fun! We got to bed about midnight! Sometime today we plan to go together and have the whole body massage at the Thai massage place, and we will go out for a nice dinner tonight. It has been a great and momentous 36 years, and without a doubt, our seven kids, their husbands and wives and our grandchildren are at the top of the list as we thank the Lord for His many blessings in our years of marriage!
