Last February Dad went to the retinologist here in town and found that he had some macular edema, which is not a good thing. Macular edema can be reduced some, but he said once you have it, it rarely goes away. It tends to be the beginning of major diabetic eye problems. The doctor suggested regular exersice and tighter control, both of which Dad worked on. This week, he went back in and had a more extensive retinal angiogram. His veins and arteries look like 'new hoses' in excellent shape! AND, there is NO macular edema at all! The doctor was thrilled! He has a couple micro-aneurisms in each eye, but none are leaking. This is a real anwser to prayer!
Dad also felt that maybe he was again taking too much thyroid, since he was having the kind of control problems he had before, when he needed to reduce his thyroid dosage. He stopped taking thyroid for a week, and then had a TSH test done. He is now in the middle of the normal range! This means he no longer needs thyroid, which he has been taking since he was in college! Amazing! Maybe all the vitamins he is taking are doing some good!
Dad injured his knee a several weeks ago while playing with the Dollen kids at the beach. It had gotten better, with a couple little set backs, but yesterday he took a wrong step, or maybe pivoted on it, and it is now really bad. He is in a lot of pain. On Monday he will have an MRI, and possibly have arthroscopic surgery on it the next day. Please pray with us that it will be able to be fixed and not be a major problem for all the travel ahead of us. Please pray also that we will have all the help we need with our luggage as we travel.
