Did I mention that there are a LOT of mosques in Istanbul? Everywhere you go there are large, fancy mosques, not just little neighborhood "mosquettes" (like we have in the Philippines). Here are some pictures of different mosques we saw as we walked around the area near the Grand Bazaar. The fact that we walked it shows it is not a very large area.
In this picture below these people are selling lottery tickets. the place was swarming with pigeons which the little kids liked to scare, causing them to explode into the air for 30 seconds before landing again.

Below we have the Bosporus. The Bosporus or Bosphorus, also known as the Istanbul Strait, is a strait that forms the boundary between the European part of Turkey and its Asian part. The world's narrowest strait used for international navigation, it connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara. The shores of the strait are heavily populated as the city of Istanbul straddles it. There are two bridges which cross it and ferries coming and going all day.
Here is a view of the other part of Istanbul across the water. We didn't get to go over to have a look. Maybe next time...
And so ends our time in Turkey. We were only in Istanbul for a day and a half, but we really did make the most of the time, and we saw a lot. We did not see the Topkapi Castle, which we have loved to have seen.

Well that looks like much more interesting part of Turkey than I went to recently. All Alanya had were a few rabid dogs; no lottery ticket-selling folk there I'm afraid.
Still got a tan though, always a good thing.
