Here is the "We are back" report: we had a good trip from Portland in an Airbus that had seat-back screens with movie selection and games at our finger tips! A very nice addition to cattle-car class travel! Portland is a nice international departure point, much less hassle and chaos than LAX. Dad had to mail his little swiss knife to Grandpa for safe keeping, however. Sigh. Both of us got more sleep than usual on the plane, and I even slept in the waiting area in the Tokyo airport, surrounded by chatting Filipinos!
Both of us are pretty much over jet-lag now, and we both feel refreshed and grateful for a truely relaxing time in Bend! We are enjoying the load of assorted cheeses we brought back in our carry-on, and are glad the intensive inspections were begun after our trip.
